Short-Term Disability (STD)

Salary Continuation

If you need time off to recover from a non-work related illness or injury, Short-Term Disability (STD), also called Salary Continuation, replaces a portion of your base salary.

For Onshore Employees

Salary Continuation pays you 100% or 66 ⅔% of your monthly base salary based on your years of service as of the date your disability begins. Benefits begin after a five-day elimination period and may continue for up to 26 weeks. Transocean pays the full cost of Salary Continuation benefits and you are automatically eligible as of your hire date or transfer date.

For Offshore Employees

Salary Continuation pays you a percentage of your monthly base salary as follows:

  • 80% for the first six weeks
  • 66 ⅔% for up to 20 additional weeks

Benefits begin after a seven-day elimination period. Transocean pays the full cost of Salary Continuation benefits and you are automatically eligible after 180 days on the job.
